MON, GUERLAIN. The perfume honoring the brand’s 190th anniversary

 This new fragrance will drive us crazy. Mon, de Guerlain, is a fragrance that belongs to the Oriental Woody Olfactory Family for women. It is a contemporary perfume, launched during 2017. Created by Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk.

 

“Mon” is a fragrance that pays tribute to femininity, to the importance that is given to this word nowadays through a shout. Guerlain is without doubt a supporter of feminism, in a world where women play various roles and fight from every corner of this place called World. A woman able to adapt to this “masculine world”. Hard-working, lover, mother and committed to any task, from the most familiar activity to an ONG. The perfume represents the generous woman, brilliant, feminine, that fights for her rights but that is also adorable.

Who represents this perfume? Without any doubt Angelina Jolie is the most appropriate woman for this cause. Her wonderful appearance also represents the next step that Guerlain wants to give, a new direction always respecting their roots. Creating a new perfume means to create a story. Nevertheless, this story can only begin if you are able to find the right ideas in every moment, this is, fundamental elements. Discovering raw material is fine, but the greatest thing is to maintain the ones you have and combining them to create something totally magical and unexpected.

Thierry Wasser, creator of this fragrance, recommends us to never use the fragrance test strips we are offered at the perfume shops to discover a new perfume. Why? Because nobody applies perfume with paper strips, it’s as simple as that. It’s better to test on the wrists, hands or sleeves. If you like one of these fragrances, you can always ask for a small sample and try it a couple of days. This way, you can get a better idea of what the fragrance is like, instead of using test strips.

What does it smell like?

Guerlain is famous for its fine selection of high quality raw materials. The perfume’s Head Notes are a smell of bergamot vaporized in the skin and immediately the French Provence’s lavender appears. The Heart Notes appear straight away combining with the lavender. You will mostly recognize the Sambac Jasmine notes. The “paradisone”, is a molecule very similar to the ones we can find in jasmine essential oil. The cumarina is perhaps the first synthetic note that is very recognizable of Guerlain. 

The perfume evolves and gets better with the appearance of vanilla. Here we can feel a very sweet and fine fragrance that maintains the freshness of the Base Notes. A floral smell with a gourmand fragrance, where iris and jasmine mix together next to spearmint and vanilla.

It has a warm drying, elegant and sophisticated. This is the moment when you can really feel this perfume in its most intense and splendorous moment. Perhaps, its only weakness is that is fades quickly, or just loses intensity. It can last 8 hours, depending on the reaction of our skin.

Its bottle ?

The bottle is as classical as innovator. Its transparent and crystalline cover has the shape of a very used structure in architecture, inspired by the ancient alchemists’ bottles. The shape of a four leaf clover, symbol of good luck and fortune.

The cover is fixed on a small silver ring with geometric figures, a piece that perfectly connects with the beautiful cover.

The bottle stands out thanks to its elegance and robustness. Its octagonal shape plays with the sun light, making the pink Mon Guerlain content become more colorful and brilliant. The intention of this idea is to show the contrast between robustness and sobriety of pure lines. It is a call for the sensual, strong and free woman.
